Today Kidderminster Tennis Club held our annual Open Mixed Doubles tournament where we open our doors to members from all clubs. This year there was a fantastic turnout and a great time was had by all.
In group A the seeded pair were last year’s winner Emma and new aprtner Graeme representing the home club. They were joined by 2 pairs from the West Midlands Police S&SC Dan & Belinda and Mike & Wendy. Completing the group was a Kidderminster & Halesowen pair of Kevin and Gill.
In Group B the seeded pair were Kidderminster’s Mixed Team captain Carole and last week’s semi-finalist Will. They were joined by last week’s Men’s open doubles finalist George with Judy from Far Forest. As well as the Halesowen pair of Darren & Hannah and first time partners Saad & Louise.
In the group stage it was the Police pairings that advanced from Group A, with Mike & Wendy winning the group and Dan & Belinda 2nd. In Group B Carole & Will lived up to their seeding by winning the group and keeping hopes of a home winner alive with Darren & Hannah coming 2nd.
In the Semi-finals Will & Carole were defeated by Dan & Belinda, meaning Will repeated his semi-final finish from last week’s Men’s open doubles. In the other semi Mike & Wendy got the best of Darren & Hannah setting up an all Police final where Dan & Belinda avenged their defeat in the group stage.
